Jamie Lee Curtis Explains How Halloween Kills Has Gotten Even More Timely

One of the hardest COVID-19-related movie delays to swallow for fans has been Halloween Kills ,  which was pushed back a whole year from this October to next October. It was especially crushing as Blumhouse is hyping the follow-up to its 2018 reboot-quel up as what could be one of the best entries in the 40-year saga. Now, star Jamie Lee Curtis has pointed out how Kills  would have been such a timely film for 2020 as it accidentally touches on one of the biggest events of the year. While speaking on SiriusXM’s The Jess Cagle Show , Curtis talked about something that’s been teased before , that this movie is less about Laurie’s personal trauma and more about the trauma felt by the town of Haddonfield, Illinois as a whole, as Michael Myers’ murdering antics have affected the local citizens at large, not just the Strode family. Curtis explains, then, that Kills  is about what happens when a mob mentality takes over. “[ Halloween ] 2018 was about Laurie’s trauma, right? It...

Scream 5’s Main Killer Will Not Wear The Iconic White Mask

With Scream 5   promising to bring slasher fans a sequel that retains the unique spirit of the original series , audiences may worry that the upcoming movie may play things too safe. But while it’s true that many long-running horror franchises have grown stale by relying on the same formula, the next installment of the Scream  saga seems to be shaking things up. According to author and designer RJ Torbert – perhaps most famous for naming the series’ iconic “Ghostface” mask – the fifth film may have not just multiple killers, but multiple masks as well. “There’s been a rumor going around that the ultra-white mask is involved,” said Torbert in a recent interview with Ghostface UK. “What I will tell you is that the killer, the main killer, will not have the ultra-white mask. There’s something else involved, and it’s not the white mask!” Scream 5 Set Photos Reveal First Look At Courteney Cox's Gale Weathers 1 of 3     Click to skip MOR...

Halloween Kills Trailer Teased Returning Stars Of 1978 Original

Were it not for COVID-19, we’d be enjoying Halloween Kills   right now. David Gordon Green’s 2018 reworking of the franchise breathed new life into Michael Myers, ignoring the sequels and positioning itself as a direct continuation of the 1978 original. In 2021, Michael Myers will be back once again (after having escaped being trapped in a burning house) to menace not just Jamie Lee Curtis’ Laurie Strode, but some old friends from back in the day, too. Universal released a new promo for the film yesterday teasing the returning characters, which include Kyle Richards as Lindsey Wallace, Nancy Stephens as Nurse Marion Chambers, Robert Longstreet as Lonnie Elam and Anthony Michael Hall as Tommy Doyle. They all survived Michael’s initial rampage, but something tells me only a few of them will make it into Halloween Ends   in 2022. Green laid out his philosophy for the movie in an interview with Empire, saying that: “The first one was more about Laurie’s life of isolation afte...

Adam Sandler Reportedly Developing Animated Adult Film For Netflix

Sometimes, it seems like everything Adam Sandler touches turns to gold. People just can’t seem to get enough of the renowned comedian. Indeed, on top of his classic films like Billy Madison ,  Happy Gilmore and many more still being quoted regularly to this day, his newer work has also been (mostly) beloved by the masses. His latest original for Netflix, Hubie Halloween , was a huge hit with fans and quickly rose to number one on the platform’s charts , no doubt prompting everyone involved to get to work on a sequel . We also learned that his 2008 comedy You Don’t Mess with the Zohan is about to get a new chapter as well . The 54-year-old actor clearly has a face that can make folks laugh even when he’s not trying to be funny. In fact, audiences don’t even need to see him to start cracking up. The Hotel Transylvania franchise, in which he voices Count Dracula, is proof of that. That blockbuster series is also still going strong, with work on a fifth installment reportedly get...

Halloween Kills Teaser Reveals First Look At Michael Myers’ Burned Mask

Today, Blumhouse unveiled a new teaser for Halloween Kills ,  just a little something to apologize to the fans for them having to wait another full year to see it. Given that we won’t be sitting down to watch the sequel for 12 months, we’ve seen a surprising amount of the movie already, and this promo only offered more. For instance, it revealed our first look at Michael Myers in the film, now worse for wear after his tussle with the Strode women in 2018’s Halloween.  At the 0:24 mark of the video, we get our clearest glimpse of The Shape, and it can be seen that his iconic William Shatner mask is scarred on the left side. This is a result of him being trapped in Laurie’s house, which went up in flames with him inside at the end of the last movie. Laurie’s aim was to let the killer burn with her abode, but the opening scene of Kills – revealed back in July , when the release date changed – teased that fire fighters will unfortunately rescue him. Now he’s got a mangled ...

Final Destination Creator Confirms That The New Movie Won’t Be A Reboot

It’s now been almost a decade since the last  Final Destination and despite a couple of ups and downs along the way, it remains one of my favorite horror franchises, featuring some hilarious, imaginative and downright disturbing on-screen deaths. Between 2000 and 2011, the series saw five movies that scored a cumulative box office total of $664 million, with Final Destination 5  impressing critics and racking up a decent profit. After that, you’d think Final Destination 6   would have been a no-brainer, but the wheels stubbornly refused to move. Then in 2019 we finally heard rumors of a new entry in a late stage of development. This was apparently almost ready to shoot, before COVID-19 arrived and the film was put on the back burner . Now, creator Jeffrey Reddick has revealed more about what’s planned. In an interview with Bloody Disgusting, he explained that while Final Destination 6 is set in a “different world,” it’s not (as previously reported) a reboot. This may ...

Stephen King Explains Why The Blair Witch Project Terrified Him

Modern horror fans might not understand what all the fuss is about given the evolution of the found footage genre over the last two decades, but The Blair Witch Project was a cultural phenomenon when it hit theaters in the summer of 1999. Daniel Myrick and Eduardo Sanchez’s micro budget chiller is one of the genre’s most influential movies, as well as one of the most profitable after raking in almost $250 million at the box office on a budget of $200,000. It was also one of the first titles to harness the nascent power of the internet as a marketing tool, with a website based on the legend comprised of newsreel interviews with supposed locals leading many people to believe that the story was true, and the movie itself represented real documentary footage shot by the central trio before they went missing. That sort of suspension of disbelief and air of mystery is impossible to come by these days, and in a recent interview, Stephen King explained why he found The Blair Witch Project ...

Stranger Things Star Reportedly Eyed For Power Rangers Reboot

Hasbro’s  Power Rangers   reboot is finally revving up.  I Am Not Okay With This  director Jonathan Entwistle has been attached to helm the project for a while now, and recently we learned that the plan is for the movie to launch a new multimedia franchise spanning various films and TV shows. But first of all, the reboot needs to make a big impact and so to make sure that happens, the producers may want to nab one of the biggest young stars around to headline it. According to sources close to WGTC – the same ones who told us Ben Affleck was returning to the DCEU as Batman and that Netflix was working on a  Witcher  spinoff – Millie Bobby Brown is being eyed for the production. The Stranger Things  star has already made a name for herself playing a bunch of gifted teen heroines – telekinetic Eleven, super smart Enola Holmes and monster-chasing Madison in the Godzilla  movies – so she would be a natural fit to become one of the next generation o...
