John Cusack Reportedly Attacked By Cops At Chicago Protest

In a video posted on Twitter late last night, actor John Cusack can be seen getting harassed and even attacked by police officers simply for watching and filming the ongoing civil unrest in Chicago. Cusack is one of several celebrities who’ve participated in the nationwide protests that began earlier this week in response to the death of Floyd George, and the institutionalized racism which caused it . According to various news sources, the Illinois-born actor was cycling around the city of Chicago in an effort to document the protests and share them with his followers on social media. In the video, Cusack can be seen recording a burning car when an unidentified voice repeatedly tells him to vacate the area. As he leaves, the sound of metal hitting metal can be heard off-screen, which is apparently the sound of cops hitting his bike with their batons, an event which the actor confirms happened in the caption that accompanied the video. The Best New Movies That Hit Netflix This Week

You know the drill at this point. The coronavirus has shut down production and distribution of original content worldwide, which includes those that are financed by Netflix . Fortunately for the streamer, however, its business model allows the company to scavenge all of entertainment history for undiscovered gems and present them to the quarantined masses. In fact, quite a few interesting titles hit the platform this week, and here’s the best of what arrived over the past few days. First up we got  The Lincoln Lawyer . This 2011 crime thriller, directed by Brad Furman and starring Matthew McConaughey, follows a lawyer who unknowingly takes on a client who not only committed the crime of which he’s been accused of, but also bears responsibility for a multitude of other horrific acts. Though critics didn’t exactly shower it with love, it’s widely regarded as the project which kicked off the McConaissance, and for that reason alone it might be worth checking out. Next up we move on ...

Henry Cavill’s New Superman Deal Is Reportedly Only For Cameos

If the long-awaited official announcement of the Justice League Snyder Cut wasn’t enough, fans of the DCEU must have thought Christmas had come early twice over when it was confirmed a few days later that Henry Cavill’s Superman would also be making a return to the interconnected superhero franchise, seemingly drawing a line under the constant speculation surrounding his future . The decision to take one of the most famous and recognizable characters in all of popular culture, use him as the jumping-off point for an entire cinematic universe in his solo reboot and then almost instantly relegate him to a supporting role has always looked like one of the DCEU’s strangest creative choices, and when Superman’s last appearance in the franchise didn’t involve Cavill at all , it looked as though the writing was on the wall for the actor’s time under the costume. With The Witcher star having finally put the rumors to bed and committed his future to the DCEU, many fans were hoping that it ...

Former Arrow Star Wants To Play John Stewart In Green Lantern Corps Movie

It doesn’t seem to be a project that’s being fast-tracked right now, but as far as we know, Warner Bros. is still working on the Green Lanterns Corps   movie they’ve been planning for years. The idea has always been to make this reboot of the Emerald Knights a kind of cosmic buddy-cop story, starring the most famous Lanterns, Hal Jordan and John Stewart. Various names have been linked to play Jordan over time, but what about Stewart? He’s said much the same before , but Michael Jai White has now once again thrown his name in the hat to play the comic book hero in the film. In a video shared by the Geek House Show, the former Spawn   star revealed his answer to which Marvel/DC character he’d most want to play. “My answer would have to be from the DC universe, a character called John Stewart, because that’s what everyone wants me to play,” White said. “And I can’t let down the fans.” View this post on Instagram . الفنان #MichaelJaiWhite ...

The Batman Star Paul Dano Teases His Take On The Riddler

Robert Pattinson’s Dark Knight will have his work cut out for him in  The Batman ,  with the hero due to face a myriad of Gotham’s most malicious miscreants in his debut movie. Colin Farrell’s playing the Penguin, Zoe Kravitz is Catwoman and Paul Dano is filling the role of the Prince of Puzzles himself, the Riddler. Interestingly, while we’ve seen set pics of Farrell and Kravitz (albeit blurred) , we’ve yet to get a proper glimpse of Dano as Edward Nashton, as he’ll be known in the film. John Wick Director Teases Absolutely Crazy Action In The Matrix 4

When news broke that Lana Wachowski was making The Matrix 4 , the collective reaction from fans was a mix of excitement and apprehension. It’s been 17 years since both The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions came out and to say they haven’t aged well would be an understatement. But considering the comeback Keanu Reeves has enjoyed with the John Wick franchise, there seems to be more anticipation for another Matrix film than originally thought. One reason to be encouraged is the involvement of David Leitch and Chad Stahelski. Now known for directing action movies like Wick , Atomic Blonde, Deadpool 2 and Hobbs & Shaw , the two filmmakers have a long history with the Wachowskis and The Matrix world. They were both stunt coordinators on the two sequels and Stahelski was Reeves’ stunt double on the first two. The pair recently spoke about being involved in The Matrix 4 , and now Stahelski is sharing a little more information about his collaboration with Wachowski and the...

Horror Fans Freaking Out Over Ryan Gosling Playing The Wolfman

The Dark Universe became a laughing stock after 2017’s  The Mummy bombed, but to be fair to Universal, they’ve got back in the game pretty quickly and have already found a new, more successful direction to go in with their classic horror properties – dispensing with the shared franchise gimmick and focusing on making creator-led standalone features. Leigh Whannell’s The Invisible Man ,  for instance, was well-received earlier this year. Now, the next one to get this treatment is The Wolfman and it’s already got a big name attached to star. Variety reported this evening that Ryan Gosling has signed up to lead another reboot of the iconic werewolf tale. The trade notes that this particular take on the material, whatever that may be, was actually pitched to the studio by the Drive star. He was originally set to direct, too, but has ultimately decided to leave that to someone else. The search for a director is reportedly nearing its end though, with Bad Education ‘s Cory Finle...

Jared Leto’s Joker Might Return To The DCEU Now Thanks To Snyder Cut

Few characters have enjoyed as many portrayals or voices as DC’s very own Clown Prince of Crime. The list includes some pretty prominent talents at that, the most iconic being Mark Hamill’s sinister voice from Batman: The Animated Series and the Arkham video games, and then there was the supremely lauded performance by Heath Ledger in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight , but these are just the tip of the iceberg. There’s also been Joaquin Phoenix from 2019’s Oscar-nominated Joker , Jack Nicholson, Cameron Monaghan, Troy Baker and, believe it or not, even Zach Galifianakis in the The LEGO Batman Movie . Of course, there was also the Clown Prince played by Jared Leto in the much-maligned Suicide Squad , but it didn’t seem like we’d be seeing more of his take on the villain after his portrayal was slammed by fans and critics alike. However, the planned release of the Snyder Cut of Justice League for HBO Max may have just shifted the equation significantly, and here’s how. Joker...
