Pakistan Test Skipper Shan Masood Given PCB Position In Stunning Move

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has appointed its Test captain Shan Masood as consultant for international cricket and players affairs. This is the first time a serving Test captain has been named in another position in the board. Shan's appointment was announced by the PCB on Friday night. There was however no mention about whether Shan will also take over as director of international cricket operations once he is done leading the national team in the current ICC World Test Championship (WTC) cycle. The PCB has advertised the post and last date for applying is November 2.

Earlier, the PCB had asked Shan to become the new director of international cricket operations while will also continuing to lead the team in the WTC cycle.

A source said on Friday, after discussions within the board, that there was a clear consensus that Shan was the best man to lead the international cricket affairs department.

"The PCB has appointed left-handed batter Shan Masood as Consultant International Cricket and Players' Affairs. The 36-year-old has featured in 44 Tests, nine ODIs and 19 T20Is, scoring 3,108 international runs, including six Test centuries. Shan has also captained Pakistan in 14 Tests, including the recently concluded two-match ICC World Test Championship series against South Africa. Under his leadership, Pakistan defeated England 2-1 last year, their first Test series win against England on home soil since 2005," the PCB said in their official release.

The situation in the country is worrisome and a storm of hatred is posing grave danger to peace in the country," Ahmed Bukhari said. "You say your 'Mann Ki Baat' but you also need to listen to the 'Mann Ki Baat' of Muslims. The Muslims are troubled due to the prevailing conditions and worried about their future," Ahmed Bukhari said, referring to PM Modi's monthly radio pro...
