Covid JN.1 sub-variant: Symptoms, precautions & other FAQs

The JN.1 variant of Covid, causing concern in India, has mild to moderate symptoms such as fever, runny nose, sore throat, headaches, loss of appetite, and extreme fatigue. Gastrointestinal problems may also occur. The central government has issued advisories to state governments, urging adequate health arrangements. The WHO classifies JN.1 as a "variant of interest" with limited threat. Vaccinations targeting the spike protein should remain effective against JN.1. To prevent infection, experts recommend masking up in crowded areas, staying in well-ventilated spaces, and frequent handwashing.
